With the launch of its new pre-professional school in the fall of 2012, the Ballet will re-establish itself as a premier training institution as well as a top-notch performing organization.
In addition to providing rigorous, exceptional ballet training for children and adults in the broader community, the new school will provide many benefits for the Ballet. It will help grow the Ballet's base of ticket buyers and supporters, create visibility for the organization year-round, and provide a vital new source of revenue. Last but not least, the new school will nourish the professional Company with talented dancers trained in the aesthetic of Pennsylvania Ballet, as developed and approved by the Artistic Director. No longer will additional coaching be necessary to help new Company dancers acquire the "look" and skills of their more experienced colleagues.
Launching a new educational venture requires up-front investment. Our goal is to raise enough funding to cover the start-up costs of both the pre-professional and the satellite schools during their first two years of operations and provide scholarships for the most deserving students.
