Dress Rehearsals

All Dress Rehearsals begin promptly at 1:00pm. Lobby doors will open at 12:30pm, and seating is on a first come, first served basis. Rehearsals typically last 3 hours, however you may leave the theater during any pause. The attendance of children under the age of 5 is discouraged.  

Please note that we also typically invite school children to Dress Rehearsals. These are Philadelphia-area students who participate in our outreach and education program, Community Engagement - for some of these students, this will be their first time experiencing ballet in a theater setting!

Technical Rehearsals

Annual Fund donors of $250 and above are invited to our evening Technical Rehearsals. Join us for a wine and cheese reception in the Merriam Theater lobby (and hear a few words from a member of the artistic staff), then watch a behind-the-scenes look at how the Company rehearses the night before opening! Similar to a full dress rehearsal, witness how sound, lighting, and other technical processes are worked out on stage before opening night.

Inside the Dancer’s Studios –new for the 2014-15 season!

A brand new donor benefit (for donors of $1,000 and above) this season, Inside the Dancer's Studio offers intimate dialogue between members of Pennsylvania Ballet's artistic, production staff, musicians, and/or company dancers about a variety of topics centered on the artistic process and technical aspects of ballet. Held at various venues throughout the city, the evening begins with a cocktail reception, followed by a panel discussion and concludes with a light dessert reception.

Studio Lunches

Exclusive studio access for Annual Fund donors of $1,500 and above, studio lunches are the ultimate behind-the-scenes experience offers a glimpse of a typical day for our dancers. Watch rehearsal of upcoming performances and enjoy a light lunch at the studios with the Artistic Director.

Nutcracker Market

Pennsylvania Ballet will host the second annual Nutcracker Market this December at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. The Kimmel Center's Commonwealth Plaza will be transformed for the Market and will feature over 75 carefully selected artists and craftsmen selling hand-made crafts and specialty gift items. Additionally, the Market will host a variety of free and family activities including arts and crafts, raffles, and visits from characters of George Balanchine's The Nutcracker™. Ormandy Room Refreshments

All Leadership Barre Society donors ($2,500 and above), are invited to come back to the Ormandy Room during first intermission at any performance, when the Company is performing at the Academy of Music (excluding all performances of George Balanchine's The Nutcracker™). Enjoy a glass of champagne and other light refreshments, mingle with other Leadership Barre donors, Ballet staff, and occasionally the dancers that are able to stop in.

Backstage Tours

All Leadership Barre donors have the opportunity to schedule a backstage tour, during intermission, when the Company is performing at the Academy Music. All tours must be scheduled at least two weeks prior to your performance date and are subject to availability. 

Annual Silver Level Leadership Barre Society Event

Silver Level (annual donors of $5,000 and above) Leadership Barre donors are invited to an annual event, typically in the spring, in a private home. Enjoy cocktails and hors d'oeuvres while mingling with Company dancers, Ballet artistic staff, and other donors. This annual celebration is not to be missed!
