The Annual Fund Challenge

Beginning August 2013, the start of Pennsylvania Ballet's 50th Anniversary Season, all new and increased donations to the Ballet count towards the Annual Fund Challenge. The goal is to raise $3 million in new and increased gifts over the next two performance seasons (through 2016).

On July 31, 2014, we reached our year 1 goal of raising $1,000,000 in new and increased gifts (thank you again to the over 2,300 generous donors that contributed!). As of September 1st– one month into year 2 of our three year Annual Fund Challenge, we have raised an additional $45,000 towards our goal! Now that the dancers are back in the studios rehearsing – anticipation for the start of our 51st season and the directorial debut of Artistic Director, Ángel Corella, is mounting! To encourage Annual Fund giving this season, we have added new donor benefits that will allow our donors to have exclusive behind-the-scenes access and opportunities so they can experience all the excitement this season! Please continue to check back for updated results, especially as we near opening night on October 16th

Your new or increased donation to the Annual Fund goes towards:

Providing the Company with essentials such as pointe shoes. An enormous expense for any dance company, pointe shoes cost approximately $75 a pair and a female Principal role will sometimes require a new pair with every performance!

Allowing the Company to commission new work. In the past 20 years, under the direction of Artistic Director Roy Kaiser, the Company has added 56 Company premieres and 34 World Premieres to its repertoire.

Introducing the art form of dance to thousands of underserved, Philadelphia-area school children. The Ballet's Community Engagement department offers a wide variety dance instruction and unique cultural experiences to local school children of all ages.

Tickets and sales costs cover less than half of the Ballet's expenses- contributions to the Annual Fund help to bridge the gap and allow the Ballet to continue to attract the world-class talent, delight audiences with more than 60 performances each season, and touch the lives of nearly 10,000 local school children annually through outreach and educational programming. The future of Pennsylvania Ballet relies heavily on the Annual Fund- please consider becoming a donor or increasing your support today!

In appreciation for your contribution of $75 or more, we offer to you a wonderful set of benefits, including invitations to donor-only events such as dress rehearsals, invites to choreographer lectures, and opportunities to watch Company rehearsals! Click here for a full list of donor benefits.
